"Supergirl" has been protecting Earth, just like his cousin, "Superman." Now, there is another alien life form doing the same thing and that is Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), also known as J'onn J'onzz aka Martian Manhunter.

"Supergirl's" last episode before the holiday break, "Human for a Day," revealed Hank Henshaw's identity.  He may have been a little creepy and suspicious, sneaking around, plus his eyes can turn red, because he is J'onn J'onzz, also known as the Martian Manhunter from the DC universe.

He is a green martian, and the last of his kind. He is an alien refugee helped by Jeremiah Danvers, the father of Kara aka "Supergirl" and Alex.  Hank promised Jeremiah that he will look after his daughters.  It is also the reason why he is working with the same institution as Alex, Screenrant reported.

It was always the plan of the producers of the show, Andrew Kresiberg and Ali Adler, to have another alien refugee to help "Supergirl" in the fight to protect humanity. It is also the reason why, "The Man of Steel" himself, was not a part of the show. It will be Hank Henshaw's job. This is also a way for DC to showcase its other Justice League superheroes.

However, Harewood does not also know that he is a superhero up until two weeks into the series. "They told me about two weeks into my time here... I knew something was changing, but I wasn't absolutely sure what it was. I was really pleased--Martian Manhunter is such a huge character. It took me in to a whole new, different direction, and it was brilliant for me," said Harewood.

For a little background, his race, the green martian, was all burned by the white martian species, Ecumenical News reported.  J'onn J'onzz lost his wife and child during this event and was able to escape to Earth.  He then vowed to protect Earth and to not let this planet suffer the same fate as Mars.

"Supergirl" will air its final episode for the year on Dec. 14.
