Social media giant Facebook is planning to roll out a new feature for its app, Facebook. It was said that the company is currently testing a feature for the app to be used offline.

The company explains that the offline feature will allow users to scroll down the newsfeed more often. Aside from this, the company said that an offline commenting feature will be rolled out in the future both for iOS and Android apps, a report from iDigital Times said.

"To improve News Feed so it works seamlessly and quickly for people in all parts of the world, we're focused on designing it to operate well regardless of device or network connection. As a next step in improving people's experiences on slower internet connections, we are shipping several changes that will more efficiently show you relevant stories in your News Feed when you're on a slow connection and will let you compose comments on posts when you're offline," Facebook said via its blog.

Facebook said the testing includes looking at some of the downloaded stories in a user's smartphone that have not yet been viewed by the user. These will be ranked based on relevance. Aside from this, the company is also considering if a certain image attached to the story is relevant or not, according to The Verge.

"Users have always been able to like and share posts while offline, but they'll now also be able to cue up comments for when they come back online. Once they've reconnected, the comments will automatically post. This feature, as well as the News Feed changes, will be tested and rolled out slowly. It can be recalled that the company launched its internet.org project in 2013 with the goal of connecting growing communities around the world to the internet," the report said.
