As of their recent app update, GoPro can now be navigated by means of an Apple Watch app.
If you own both an Apple Watch and a GoPro, you can now hit record, preview, or stop using your Apple Watch.
Using the GoPro app, your watch can now act as your GoPro remote controller. You can preview what your camera sees before starting the recording and you can also go from one capture mode to another using the watch. You can also start and stop your recording conveniently. Not only that, you can also highlight tags for easier video editing in the future.
However, the Apple Watch GoPro app may not have all the features that its iPhone app counterpart has. But still, an Apple Watch app may be a more convenient GoPro controller as it is more accessible to you. Having access to your GoPro's camera functions right on your smartwatch is easier than having to go through your bag or pocket to grab your phone. It's also difficult to carry your iPhone all the time just to control your GoPro.
This GoPro Apple Watch app can be used with your Hero3 model and any products newer than that, alongside any Wi Fi enabled models. It's worth noting however that the preview function won't be available on the Hero3.
GoPro made a lot of changes on its apps for both the major platforms (iOS and Android). The design has been overhauled and you can now grab images from your videos straight from your phone app. This is great news for action photography and videography enthusiasts out there, as it can be quite a hassle to control your GoPro without a fully functional remote controller. Now, you can simply position your camera and let your Apple Watch or phone do the controlling.
GoPro released a video showing how easy it is to use the GoPro when you have an Apple Watch app. Skateboarder Mike Taylor is in the video demonstrating the use of the app and the camera.
