CES, the biggest consumer tech event of 2016, will happen in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 6-9, 2016, with pre show events from January 4-5. Here are some of the things that we have heard about the CES 2016 so far:
'Hoverboards' Banned
The CES website posts "Wheeled transport devices (with or without motors) are not permitted at any CES venue,". Included here are the hoverboards, uniwheels, skateboards, and all products similar to these. However, the organization behind CES says that they shall allow segways within the venue, in accordance with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
Dell
Dell has set the bar high for its own CES 2016 show off after the company impressed the consumers at the CES 2015 with their "XPS 13". With Windows 10 being a thing now, it's exciting to see what Dell has in store for us this time.
LG
LG is more of the mysterious type when it comes to their CES 2016 event. They sent out invites and announced the date, time, and place for the show, but that's pretty much everything that the company has mentioned. We actually would like to see new wearables and smartwatches on top of sparkly new TV sets and high technology washing machines.
Huawei
Huawei is up for a good show with its newest portfolio of devices. The company aims to show how they can "continue to inspire creativity in technology, to make people's lives more connected and convenient". With that statement, it's easy to assume that maybe Huawei has a new smartwatch prepared to show off at CES. But we don't know for certain just yet. Furthermore, there are also news about quick-charge batteries that will come from Huawei, so it's also possible that these juicers will also star in Huawei's CES 2016 event.
Sony
TVs, tabs, cameras, smartwatches, phones, and camcorders - these are the things that we expect Sony to showcase during its CES 2016 event. However, it's still hard to say for certain whether the company is gonna showcase new product or old ones.
CES 2016 Dates
Dates have already been confirmed regarding the CES 2016 events, and here's what we know so far: LG will be up for a show on January 5 at 8 am PT; Huawei and Panasonic will have its event on the same date (January 5) at 10 am PT; Qualcomm's event will also be on January 5, but at 12 pm PT; Asus will be on January 5 as well, at 1 pm PT; Samsung will be on January 7 at 9 am PT; and Youtube will be on January 7 as well at 4:30 pm PT. Here's TechRadar's complete list of CES events.
What We Want To See During The CES 2016
LG stood out in CES 2015 with their release of the "LG G Flex 2", but it is also mostly due to the fact that LG is the sole company to release a flagship device during the event. It's not typical for phone companies to release or unveil new phones at the CES, because they usually wait for Mobile World Congress in February to do such thing, which is why we do hope to see something unusual during CES in the form of a flagship phone launch.
Tablets gimmicks on the other hand, are a usual thing at CES. Dell showed us the "Venue 8 7000" at CES 2015 and Lenovo has the "Yoga Tablet 2 with AnyPen". For CES 2016, we'd like to see tablet manufacturers up its game, especially that the "iPad Pro" and Surface have already impressed a lot of people by the time the CES takes place. It would be extra satisfying if CES 2016 tabs have upgraded and more impressive features.
Wearables should do well in CES 2016, considering how they invaded the whole year of 2015 where it almost seemed like a new smartwatch gets introduced month after month. It would be interesting to see new models with new features.
Laptops should also star in CES 2016. Although laptops don't usually create a big fuss (at least when compared to flagship phones), but it would still be exciting to see how companies continue to progress in the laptop industry.
