"The Vampire Diaries" is rumored to be on the brink of cancellation, as the show's ratings for Season 7 continue to drop. The reason for this drop is said to be because of Nina Dobrev's departure from The CW series after Season 6, but several fans thought that the show became a lot better when the 26-year-old actress left the show. Is Season 7 the last fans and viewers will see of 'TVD?'
Will "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 be the show's final season on TV? Rumors are saying that The CW series is headed for the chopping block, citing the show's movement to a Friday timeslot as a sign that the show will soon be cancelled. Several reports are already emerging that Ian Somerhalder is already looking into leaving the show after its current season.
In a recent report from Carter Matt, the outlet listed several of the show's highlights during its first half of Season 7 and graded the show's first half with an overall grade of B+. According to the outlet, the 'TVD' storyline for Season 7, which was created to compensate for Dobrev's departure, "may be the best start to a season of the show since season 3."
While several fans definitely miss Damon and Elena's relationship on the show (partly due to the fact that its stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev also became a real life couple), the outlet noted that 'TVD' Season 7 kept things simple and this worked for the show. The outlet cited, however, that the current season of the show definitely lacked a couple of scenes with Bonnie and Matt.
With rumors surrounding "The Vampire Diaries" cancellation, Australia Network News noted on the possibility that Dobrev may return as the show's big bad in the second half of season 7 to save the show. However, it looks like Dobrev isn't returning to the show at all, but the show's new actress Leslie-Anne Huff, who will be playing the villain in the upcoming episodes, is said to resemble Dobrev.
