Talk show host Bill Cosby is back on the headlines and it is still in regards to his sexual assault lawsuit. But this time, it is Cosby himself who filed the lawsuit against the 40 women who filed charges against him.
As per BBC, Bill Cosby's lawsuit claimed that several women who stated that they were abused were just lying for financial gain. The 78-year-old host is seeking "unspecified monetary damages." He even added that the claims against him caused him "emotional distress." He even stated that the lawsuits were "nothing more than an opportunistic attempt to extract financial gain from him".
Cosby filed the lawsuit just after 7 of his accusers went to court upon seeking damages from Cosby. The talk show host repeatedly denied the accusations and was never charged up to this date.
A report from Realty Today emerged that during one of his interviews, Bill Cosby's co-star Joseph Phillips denied his innocence after an interview with his former colleague that was victimized by Cosby as well.
"I was particularly shaken the afternoon I bumped into an old friend while shopping. The controversy was at its height. The story of Bill was all over the press. I hadn't seen this woman for many years. Back in the day, I had asked her out on a few dates, but was relegated to the friend zone so fast it made my ears wiggle. We had kept in touch for a few years, but our lives had taken different paths. "
He then added that:
"Over the years, I had watched with a passive interest as her career grew, so I was excited to see her and catch up a bit. As we spoke, I recalled that Bill had been her mentor (play father, teacher...something. I couldn't quite recall what it was). The question popped into my head."
