"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" co-stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James recently explained how Tris and Four support each other.
In an interview with Glamour, Woodley and James said that they never imagined that they will take on the roles of such strong and popular characters. The co-stars added that they also didn't think that fans will fall in love with Tris and Four individually and as a couple.
Meanwhile, James spoke about his character's relationship with Woodley's Tris. According to him, Tris and Four are co-dependent, but they are also very independent characters.
"They're co-dependent, in a good way. Tris is in no way the damsel in distress but that doesn't detract from Four being a masculine character. They're two people in love but broken by the situation they're in. They go from a burgeoning love story to two people genuinely in love," he said.
Woodley also revealed that one of the things that makes Tris and Four's relationship truly special is the way they care and support each other.
"People love that they support one another so much and respect one another. It's sexier to see a couple that aren't all over each other. There's no point where Tris questions how Four will validate her. It's about recognizing who they are and how they can support each other," she said.
In other news, there have been some never-ending rumors that Woodley and James' chemistry extends beyond the films. According to Inquisitr, the onscreen couple has feelings for each other. However, it's something that they couldn't act on because they are in a relationship with their respective partners. Woodley is in a relationship with Nahko Bear, and James is still dating Ruth Kearney.
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Mar. 18, 2016.
