Rapper DMX was just presented with an arrest warrant after he missed his court hearing last Monday. He was set to resolve child support issues between him and his wife, but he was out partying in Las Vegas -- much to the dismay of a New York judge.
The 'DMX-mas' artist was booked for a performance on the same day, and he claims that he was given clearance to do the said gig. After all, he said that he must make the appearance so that he could make the money needed for child support. DMX's lawyers are now in talks with the court, and they are confident that the arrest warrant will be lifted soon.
The rapper is still very much active in the entertainment scene, and just recently, he guest starred in the Asian-centric sitcom "Fresh Off The Boat." He played a hilarious and horribly aged 24-year-old, and he gave Eddie Huang tons of work that made it hard for him to see his girlfriend. DMX is the second '90s hip-hop icon who has appeared in the series, following Shaquille O'Neal.
Prior to this, Swizz Beatz has also tapped the veteran artist to do a concert during the Art Basel party held in Miami Beach. He was part of a great line-up including Swizz Beatz' wife Alicia Keys and fellow rapper Pusha T. It is with the producer's help that DMX was able to launch his career, and it was nice to see that he'd let his former talent shine even after several years. The said party series ended with an explosive performance by the electric rapper.
When it comes to child support, the rapper doesn't seem to have a problem with shelling the money out. Him missing out on the last court hearing was pretty crucial, because at that point, the judge already thought that he was being "too lenient" with the artist. Updates are still being awaited at the moment if the warrant will be dropped.
