The color gold seems like it's slowly becoming a trend. Before, the color was mostly seen only on jewelry and a few accessories. But now, we're seeing it on phones.

We first saw smartphones sport the color gold, probably when the iPhone 5 came out. But it seems as though another contender is looking at their much golder options.

In case you missed it, the Nexus 6P is one of the best Android phones in the market now. When the phone was launched in September, only three color variants - Aluminim, Graphite, and Frost - were announced.

Japan was the only country to get their hands on the "Special Edition" gold version of the phone. However, that might not be so true anymore, as its gold version might come stateside. According to 9to5Google:

"According to people familiar with the matter, the company [Google] is planning to soon begin selling the Nexus 6P via Best Buy, and finally launch the gold variant in the United States after only just recently making it available to Japanese customers through cellular carrier SoftBank."

Aside from being available on the Best Buy online store, the Nexus 6P will also be joining the Nexus 5X when it hits physical stores - in Best Buy brick-and-mortar stores.

Mashable claims that "stocking the Nexus 6P is a good move and having the phone in physical stores would allow customers to get a proper feel for the phone's premium materials, try out its quick camera and poke around Android 6.0 Marshmallow."

It's highly likely that Google will use the opportunity of the Special Edition Nexus 6P gold variant to lock in an exclusive deal with Best Buy. However, there are no confirmations yet.

The Nexus 6P retails at $499 for an unlocked phone, which additionally makes it the "best premium Android smartphone" money can buy.
