During the blind auditions, Jordan Smith did not only move the world with his talent but also with the message that he brings with him, the importance of being yourself. Fast forwarding to the present, judges and audience crowned Smith the winner of NBC's top-selling singing competition show "The Voice" last Tuesday night.

In the final show, Smith teamed up with Usher and gave out a wonderful performance of David Guetta's "Without You" and with his former contenders, a collaborative performance of "Anyway You Want It" by Journey.

For winning the globally televised talent show, Smith earned himself $100,000, a recording contract with Republic Records and a Nissan Altima.

After being announced as the winner, Smith proceeds to sing his version of "Climb Every Mountain" with references from his inspiring speech during the blind audition that matched the message of the song.

During the blind auditions, Smith wowed the judges with his rendition of Sia's "Chandelier" that caused judges Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani to argue about to whom he should pick as a mentor.

"I think you're the most important person that's ever been on this show," Levine told Smith after his blind audition performance.

Smith comes from a humble town in Harlan County but he managed to out-perform his contenders who were already professionals in their local scenes.

Even Harlan County's Judge-Executive Dan Mosley commended the singer for bringing attention to their humble county. "Jordan Smith is going to be a musical icon for years to come, whether he wins or not," Mosley said with pride. "That brings a new spotlight to Harlan."

It seems Smith has become a local hero in his county because people have been showing support for Smith through billboards and T-shirts. Even a Christmas tree at Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital decked out in Jordan Smith ornaments.
