"Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson's ex-boyfriend Matthew Hitt reportedly finally broke his silence over his split from the actress.
According to a US Weekly source, Hitt immediately realized how crazy Johnson's life turned out to be ever since she was cast to play Anastasia Steele on "Fifty Shades of Grey."
"Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn't something that he wanted to be a part of," a source told the publication.
After the successful release of "Fifty Shades of Grey," Hitt apparently reached out to Johnson and asked her to try to make things work again. Johnson agreed, but their second attempt at salvaging their relationship didn't last long either.
Meanwhile, there were also some rumors that Johnson was the one who ended their relationship because she was already secretly dating Jake Gyllenhaal.
According to Radar Online, "Jake and Dakota were accompanied at their table by different people throughout the night - including the owner of the bar that's so inaccessible to the public that it doesn't even have a name. They left the venue through separate exits, Johnson out the front and Gyllenhaal via the back door," a source said.
In other news, Johnson recently guest starred on "The Ellen Show" where she was asked by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres whether or not she's in a relationship. At that time, Johnson simply said "no." The actress also refused to elaborate or respond to rumors that she's dating Gyllenhaal.
Meanwhile, Johnson was also recently linked to her "Fifty Shades Darker" co-star Jamie Dornan. However, Dornan was quick to shut down the rumors when he said that he's madly in love and smitten with his wife Amelia Warner. There are rumors that the couple is expecting their second child together.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
