"Outlander" Season 2 is still without its Brianna Randall, one of the fan-favorite characters from Diana Gabaldon's second book "Dragonfly in Amber." While Starz has yet to make an official announcement as to which actress will be filling in for this highly anticipated role, the network recently announced that Richard Rankin will be playing the role of Roger Wakefield, IBT reported.
According to the outlet, Roger is a major character in Gabaldon's books, as he will be spending a lot of time with Claire and Jamie's daughter, Brianna. Roger is also said to have the ability to travel through time because he comes from Geilli's Duncan's family.
The outlet further noted that "Outlander" fans were thrilled upon hearing the news that the "Burnt" actor has been chosen to play the key role and listed several tweets from fans and viewers. Rankin was also welcomed by the show's cast, including Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan.
"@RikRankin @Outlander_Starz a lot to look forward to! #bringBri," Heughan wrote.
It looks like the Scottish actor is just as excited to know which actress will be playing the role of Brianna. Meanwhile, Heughan has just been hailed as the new celebrity ambassador for Cahonas, a charity in Scotland, which aims to raise awareness of cancers prevalent among males, Daily Record reported.
The charity launched a clip featuring Heughan's voice, which aims to raise awareness about testicular cancer and encourages men to perform a self-check once a month.
