Tennis fans and especially those who followed the sport in the 1990's would sure know about Monica Seles, and might be interested to know that the retired tennis superstar just recently made a sale of her sprawling estate in Sarasota, FL for $1.4 million, Craig Donofrio of Realtor reports.

The nine-time Grand Slam singles title holder had been putting her 5,871-square-foot mansion on and off the market until the sale since she first listed it for $1.85 million in 2014.

"The home features a dramatic living room with french doors opening to the enormous pool area, making it perfect for entertaining," says Joel Schemmel of Sotheby's International Realty, who handled the sale.

Sitting on 1.5 acres of land, the mansion is nestled within the confines of the exclusive, members-only golf community Laurel Oak Country Club. The article described it as "a blend of Mediterranean and Classical styles, with large Roman columns, Palladian windows, marble flooring, a two-story lanai, and an outdoor kitchen." And of course, this mansion wouldn't be Seles' if it didn't have its very own full-size tennis court. But there's also a basketball court and exercise room that has its own spa.

The mansion has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. The chef's kitchen is complete with professional-grade appliances and also has a breakfast nook. In a lone wing is the master suite that comes with a sauna and a private sitting area, plus an upstairs space with plenty of space and additional closet space.

In the exterior, there is a two-storey lanai that extends to a patio space that house an outdoor kitchen, a pool and a spa.

The retired sports star and her family had the mansion custom-built in 1991, just two years before the stabbing incident in a match in Hamburg, Germany where Seles was stabbed by an opponent's deranged fan. She was back in the court after two years of recovering from the tragedy and finally retired from professional sport in 2008.

Seles has sold the estate in a plan to downsize, according to the Herald Tribune, but still has her eyes in the Sarasota area.

Monica Seles' net worth is $12 million.
