The buzz is still on after the world premiere of the seventh movie of the Star Wars franchise, and late night host Jimmy Fallon of the Tonight Show just won’t let that pass.
Move over Pentatonix, there’s a new a cappella group in town. Fallon invited the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to do an a cappella version of the famous Star Wars theme, and it was more than glorious.
The video included the resident band of the show, The Roots, to do the opening tune with Fallon. Then came the newcomers and stars of the film, beginning with the new Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey. Then comes John Boyega, who plays Finn, which looks like he’s really into what he’s singing.
Them comes Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron. Surprisingly, the new villain, Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver, has some seriously great vocals singing bass with The Roots and Fallon bopping their heads in a Stormtrooper costume is just plain cool.
Captain Phasma is also there, played by the fierce Gwendolyn Christie.
Did we mention that droids R2-D2 and C3PO with the new droid joining the movie, BB-8, joins the fun? Chewbacca doesn’t seem to know what’s happening.
Then comes Lupita Nyong’o, who plays female pirate Maz Kanata.
Now it’s time for the original cast to go in. Yes, Carrie Fisher, who plays Princess, now General Leia comes in a hologram entrance.
The most glorious part was when everybody is singing the theme. Everyone sounded really good. I wonder how many times they shot this.
But wait, you can’t actually finish a Star Wars theme without Han Solo. Harrison Ford enters the group, looking at Fisher who seems surprised that he can sing.
