After the ratings-crushing "Empire" season 2 mid-season finale, fans could hardly wait for the FOX series to resume in March 2016.
With the explosive winter finale, viewers would love to know what will happen next in "Empire" season 2B. One of the main incidents that happened before the mid-season hiatus was the very pregnant Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) being pushed down the stairs which left her unconscious. The big question after the episode is, "Will Rhonda and her baby survive?"
According to Heavy, executive producer Ilene Chaiken said she hopes Rhonda survives the fall. Based on the rest of her statement, one would think the pregnant woman will not really die. As for the baby, a fall like that would most likely cause miscarriage. Since Chaiken mentioned Rhonda and her husband, Andre Lyon (Trai Byers), trying to fix their marital affairs will be one important factor during the rest of the season, the baby dying is a possibility.
Regarding the identity of the character who pushed Rhonda down the stairs, many viewers would be pointing their fingers at Anika (Grace Gealey). But the executive producer was quick to dismiss this speculation saying she would not presume it was Anika.
Meanwhile, many superstars in the music industry have already made appearance in "Empire" and some have yet to appear. One of the big names being linked to the show since August is Mariah Carey and many have anticipated her guesting. When asked by E! News regarding Carey's possible guest appearance, the series creator Danny Strong admitted he has no idea.
On the other hand, Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon in the hit Fox show, revealed, "That rumor is true. That makes me feel so good to say that rumor is true."
This means hope is not lost yet regarding the "Infinity" singer's guesting on "Empire" season 2B. Rita Ora, Alicia Keys, Patti la Belle and even Naomi Campbell already made their appearance on the show, so Carey's guesting is not too far fetched.
"Empire" season 2B premieres on FOX on Mar. 30, 2016.
