The 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were just announced, and we couldn’t be any happier for these artists.

Inductees that will be included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 are Steve Miller, Cheap Trick, N.W.A., Chicago, and Deep Purple.

Ice Cube and Dr. Dre’s group, N.W.A. just had an exciting year after releasing their biopic, “Straight Outta Compton”, which was a huge hit in the box office. Ice Cube told Rolling Stone about their crazy year, “Yeah. It's everything that kind of eluded us in a lot of ways when we were coming up. So many people were opinionated about N.W.A. I think everyone now at this point, no matter how you feel about us, understands what the group actually did and what it means to modern music. I think the movie helped to get people to remember that.”

First time nominee Cheap Trick made it to the hall of fame. According to the induction announcement, “They somehow bridge the gap between the fierce clowning of early punk and the accidental-on-purpose humor of metal, without ever sounding a bit like either.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the band Chicago won the public vote, garnering more than 37.7 million votes from fans.

Who could forget Deep Purple’s guitar riff from their song “Smoke on the Water”? The hard rock band also made it in the hall of fame.

The list of nominees were posted last Dec. 9 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website that includes The Cars, Chic (their 10th nomination), Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Janet Jackson, The J.B.’s, Chaka Khan, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A., The Smiths, The Spinners, and Yes. In order to be eligible, the artists or bands should have released their first album or first single 25 years ago.

The 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Barclays Center on April 8 and will be televised by HBO.
