New villains and big changes are coming to the second part of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7. In the mid-season finale of the show, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was resurrected by Bonnie (Kat Graham) using the Phoenix Stone, and in the promo video for the return episode, Damon can be seen attacking pregnant Caroline (Candice King).

Christian Today reports that in an interview with executive producer Caroline Dries, she revealed that the show's second part of the season will have an entirely different theme. She explained that the new episode will be a departure from what the viewers saw in the winter finale, and it will also be emotional and full of twists.

She also talked about the significant time jump when the show returns, as it was earlier revealed that Caroline will be giving birth soon. She added that even though the babies were conceived with the help of magic, they still have a normal nine-month development stage.

Meanwhile, a new vampire will be coming to town, according to Christian Post. Dries revealed that "NCIS" alum Leslie-Anne Huff will portray the role of Rayna who is a cruel vampire hunter who will go after Stefan (Paul Wesley). The character is described as a vicious, smart, driven and confident woman. She is someone who will return to the world of the living to seek revenge to the people who have taken her out.

Earlier, fans noticed the striking resemblance of Huff with the former "The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev. Dries said that their resemblance is only a coincidence and that they did not cast Huff because she looked like Dobrev. She added that they chose Huff because they think that she is a great actress and that she will be perfect for the role.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will return on The CW on Jan. 29.
