Asus has been busy in the development of the "Zenfone 3", at least according to a Taiwan based source. However, don't get too excited about it as the arrival of the said phone may not be very soon. In fact, many other flagships may be announced or released before Asus' flagship especially with the CES event coming up next month. This is because according to sources, the said "Zenfone 3" may be launched some time within May or June.

But if you are one of the excited folks, the wait may be worth it, because according to GSMarena, the "Zenfone 3" may be the first model from its series to come with a fingerprint scanner. This good news has actually already been confirmed by the company's CEO Jerry Shen. Sure, this isn't a revolutionary advancement in technology, but the fingerprint scanner has been absent in Asus' well loved smartphone series, so this is still a huge deal.

Furthermore, even though the fingerprint scanner technology has started out as a high-end phone feature, we started to see its presence in mid rangers in the recent months. With that trend, it won't be surprising to see this feature in lower midrange smartphones in the future. This is backed up by the reports saying that due to an increase in orders, the fingerprint sensor's price could drop at $5 next year. This drop may well be one of the reasons why the "Zenfone 3" will come equipped with it. According to analysts, the fingerprint scanner is expected to be featured in at least 50% of the future smartphones. As of the recent months, the said technology showed up in about 30% of smartphones. This shall be good news for everyone who craves for the feature but are not willing to splurge on over-expensive gadgets.

As per reports, Asus aims for at least 30 million device shipment for next year. Also, the company will start its market expansion to Asia and Africa, after they have been quite successful in their handset sales in Taiwan, Russia, India, Brazil, and in the Southeast Asia.

But going back on the "Zenfone 3" rumors, the phone may also come with a USB Type-C port, so users of this Zenfone new-gen can enjoy faster charging and better data transfer speeds. Apart from all these, no spec rumors have surfaced just yet. But you can just mark your calendars and get ready for the launching of the "Zenfone 3".
