Madonna and Sean Penn's romance may have ended so many years ago, but their support for each other still remains. On Saturday, Dec. 19, the "Living For Love" singer shared to Twitter a throwback black and white photo of her estranged husband as they sat on a couch together. Would there be Madonna and Sean Penn part 2?
"2 rebel hearts on a couch," the 57-year-old pop icon wrote.
Madonna defended Penn on the charges that the latter beat her during the time that they were together. Her testament was included in Penn's amended lawsuit against the Empire creator, Lee Daniels, whom Penn is suing for defamation worth $10 million, according to Us Weekly. The "Gunman" actor sued Daniels for claiming that the former was abusive against women when he tried to protect Terrence Howard in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"I am aware of the allegations that have surfaced over the years accusing Sean of incidents of physical assault and abuse against me," Madonna testified. "Specifically, I am aware of the allegations concerning an alleged incident that occurred in June, 1987, whereby (according to tabloid reports), Sean allegedly struck me with "a baseball bat." I know the allegations in those and other reports to be completely outrageous, malicious, reckless, and false."
As reported by Daily Mail, the "Like a Virgin" songstress submitted proof at Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday to defend Penn of the charges against him. Back in 1987, during their marriage, reports surfaced that the 55-year-old "Milk" actor hit his ex-wife with a baseball bat. In 1989, there were reports alleging Penn of tying her and beating her. These reports, according to Madonna, were all untrue.
Madonna and Penn met at the set of the former's music video, "Material Girl." They tied the knot in 1985 after a whirlwind romance. Madonna even dedicated her song "True Blue" for Penn as it was the latter's favorite expression. The two lived together for four years until they separated. Since then, they remained amicable and were often spotted together at different events.
