After being mistakenly crowned as the winner of Miss Universe 2015 by host Steve Harvey, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez broke her silence and revealed her feelings about what fans all over the world consider as the most akward moment of 2015.

The beauty queen was caught backstage after the terrible blunder and was asked how she felt about it. Wiping tears from her eyes, Gutierrez said, "Everything happens for a reason. I'm happy! I'm happy for all what I did to reach this dream. Thank you all, thank you for voting for me." Fans and friends in the background then yelled that they love her. The statement made Miss Colombia smile.

Gutierrez's graceful response was taped and the Miss Universe organization posted the video with a caption, "A message from Miss Universe Colombia." Various critics including Hollywood Life thought that the caption was ironic and made the situation even more akward.

The new Miss Universe, Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach also spoke about the incident. She said, "It's a very non-traditional crowning moment. Very 2015!"

Harvey, apparently misread the results card, first declared Miss Colombia as the new Miss Universe. A few moments later, the host was seen being called to the edge of the stage and as soon as he returned to his post on the stage, he began to apologize explaining there was a confusion. He revealed that he made a "horrible mistake" and declared Miss Philippines as the actual winner of the pageant.

Upon announcement, Wurtzbach was visibly shaken and confused. She told Entertainment Tonight that she was scared to go forward when her name was called and wasn't able to talk to Gutierrez who was weeping uncontrollably.

After a long period of awkwardness and confusion, the crown, winner's bouquet and Miss Universe sash were removed from Gutierrez and given to Wurtzbach who remained confused and stunned.
