Square Enix reports that Microsoft has finally come up with a way to allow multi-disc Xbox 360 classic games to be played on Xbox One through its backwards compatibility technology, and it is said to be be released next year, according to reports.

The official Deus Ex account tweeted that Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already backward compatible on Xbox One, however, Missing Link and Director's Cut content are not yet playable with the newer console. But he assured gamers that the Xbox backwards compatibility team is set to bring about changes early 2016.

Deus Ex tweets, "For those asking: Missing Link and DXHR Director's Cut are currently not supported, but the Xbox team expect them to be early next year."

According to gottabemobile, the program works by letting users slide in a compatible Xbox 360 disc to unlock a digital game that works for Xbox One. Users need their disc in the console if they want to enjoy that digital download.

Earlier this year, Microsoft division head for Xbox Phil Spencer said that they are working on multidisc games support. He explained, "We're still working on multi-disc," he explained at the time. "Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are some of my favorites from the 360. There's actually work in packing a multi-disc into single that requires us to go back and look at the original package on the multiple discs and reconfigure that."

The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Program is Microsoft's way of gaining back its former fans and building loyalty among gamers to keep on using their console. The tech giant is hoping to improve their sales  by tapping on to those who have always loved their 360 games, and they are hoping that having these available on PS4 would be enough reason for them to buy the newer Xbox, instead of their rival PlayStation 4.
