"Switched at Birth" Season 5 could be the last installment for the hit ABC Family series.

According to multiple publications, there will be huge twists in the lives of Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) in Season 5. In fact, there are also some rumors that either Bay or Daphne will wed when the hit series returns next year.

According to Zap2It, so many things can happen to Bay and Daphne during the 10-month time-jump. Not only will the two lead characters stay in China for a couple of months, they will also be forced to return to the United States to deal with a family-related issue.

There were some rumors that John Kennish (D.W. Moffett) may be killed off because he already has an existing heart condition. Some rumors also claimed that John and Katherine's (Lea Thompson) financial problems will become worse and the Kennishes will become poor.

Additionally, there were also some rumors claiming that the shocking twist next season will have to do with Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lily's (Rachel Shenton) baby. As of late, nothing has been confirmed yet on what fans can expect from "Switched at Birth" Season 5.

However, in an interview with TV Line, executive producer and series creator Liza Weil talked about what's next for the characters on the show. According to her, it is still unclear whether or not Mingo will still be part of Daphne's life or the series itself.

"That was a very controversial decision in the writers' room, I can tell you. A lot of the writers felt there should be consequences for Daphne having this emotional affair-type relationship with another guy. It was a lesson that she should learn, and I think we wanted the flexibility to think about what we really wanted to do with Daphne moving forward," she said.

"Switched at Birth" Season 5 will premiere on ABC Family sometime next year.
