The long-due battle between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to gain steam as of late, and now Money May's head trainer and father has officially joined the bandwagon.
In an interview with Ben Thompson of FightHype.com, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was confident to say that the megabuck showdown with the Money May and the Pacman is going to happen next year.
"Man, I'm pretty sure that if don't nothing else happen, I'm pretty sure he's gonna get Pacquiao ... it's gonna happen. That fight's gonna happen. Trust me. That fight's definitely gonna happen. It's a fight for the world, man, right there," said the elder Mayweather, who was previously opposing a bout between the two ring gladiators.
"It's the biggest fight that has ever been in life, so like I said man, that fight's gonna happen. I'm gonna tell you right now, (Mayweather Jr.) never told me the fight's gonna happen, but I'm gonna tell you, the fight's gonna happen."
When asked if his son is scared of Pacquiao, Mayweather retaliated by saying that the Saranganni congressman will be obliterated by the pound-for-pound champion because southpaw fighters are always tailor-made for Money May's right-hand punches.
"Well, a lot of people are going to say, 'Floyd was scared of Pacquiao. Floyd was this, that, and the other.' Floyd is not scared of Pacquiao, man. Believe me as I tell you today. ... Pacquiao is tailor-made for Floyd."
"He's tailor-made to eat the right hand all day long. You gotta remember, Pacquiao is a southpaw. He's a southpaw and Floyd is right-handed, so he'll eat right hands and left hooks all night, and more than likely, he will be going to sleep again. Believe me!"
Over the last five years, the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao has been the biggest boxing match that still hasn't happened as the two camps never got on the same page with regards to fight purse sharing and blood testing procedures.
However, with the talents in the welterweight and super welterweight division drying out for both fighters, analysts believed Pacquiao and Mayweather may soon realize that it's the right time for them to meet in the ring.
