"Scandal" season 5 will once again revisit the controversial Lazarus One storyline.

In the midseason finale episode "Baby, It's Cold Outside," the Lazarus One controversy was temporarily set aside because the episode focused more on Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) abortion, as well as her split from President Grant (Tony Goldwyn).

According to Spoilers Guide, cast member Guillermo Diaz himself confirmed that the Lazarus One arc will be a huge part of the second half of "Scandal" season 5.

"Russell may be dead, but don't expect Lazarus One's threats to get buried with him in his grave. In the remaining episodes of Scandal season 5, expect for this new organization to be fleshed out," the publication noted.

Meanwhile, Diaz also spoke with TV Guide to say that he thinks Lazarus One will never end as long as "Scandal" is still airing on television.

"I don't think it's ever really going to end. There's always going to be that dark force that is present on the show. Russell's gone, but I think there are many others still alive and kicking. What was Tom up to? I don't think it's truly going to be dead and done. And now Jake and Rowan are back together. They'll look more into it, I'm sure. We don't really know what it is yet. This is something that's probably going to rear its head again," he said.

When asked whether or not he thinks Jake (Scott Foley) joined Lazarus One secretly, Diaz said that it's quite hard to say.

"I think he was genuine when he went to Rowan's house, but that would be something," he said.

In other news, "Scandal" season 5 will also feature the after effects of Olivia's decision to get an abortion. There are rumors that President Fitz will find out about her deed very early on.

"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on ABC on Feb. 11, 2016 at 9 p.m. ET.
