Timbaland already teased about dropping unreleased music from the late Aaliyah Haughton, and it seems as though Justin Timberlake's BFF decided that Christmas Day was the best time to drop his collaborative track with the "I Miss You" singer, entitled "Shakin."
"Aaliyah.. This is for you baby," Timbaland wrote on his tweet, with an accompanying link to the song. Vanity Fair aptly describes the track:
"Though Timbaland and emcee Strado pop in here and there, Aaliyah's lilting, laid-back vocals drive the song, a light jittery '90s throwback about a man who keeps her shakin' (with his love makin')."
Listen to Aaliyah, Timbaland and Strado perform "Shakin" here.
As it turns out, the track - a duet boasting of an R&B vibe he produced and features Aaliyah - is just one of many songs on Timbaland's latest mixtape, "King Stays King." The project also features some tracks with 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Migos, Rich Homie Quan, and Tink.
According to Billboard, the mixtape is just a little sneak peek from Timbaland. The 43-year-old record producer will be dropping his latest album in 2016, "Textbook Timbo."
Aaliyah passed away due to a plane crash back in August 2001. The then-22-year-old singer was coming back to the country after shooting the music video for "Rock the Boat" in the Bahamas.
During her career as an R&B star, Aaliyah worked with Timbaland on many of her hit singles, such as "Try Again," Are You That Somebody?," and "I Am Music."
Back in 2013, Timbaland spoke with Revolt TV about Aaliyah's music:
"People always say, 'I'm going to do a song with Aaliyah.' It will never work. Chris Brown got a record, it won't work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain't gonna work. Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me."
Timbaland net worth is $85 million.
