2015 is said to be a critical year for Kpop girl group Girls' Generation, as SNSD member Jessica Jung suddenly departed the nine-member girl group in 2014. While several Sones had a hard time accepting Jessica's departure from SNSD, it looks like Girls' Generation was able to make it through this hard transition.

Girls' Generation was named as the number one K-pop girl group of 2015 by Gaon, Inquisitr reported. According to the outlet, Taeyeon, Seohyun, Tiffany, Sunny, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Hyoyeon had a lot of adjusting to do after Jessica dropped out of the group in 2014.

The now eight-member girl group had to redo their single "Catch Me If You Can," as the song and its MV were recorded with Jessica. Aside from this, SNSD had to release their first official single without Jessica, "Party" and their first album as an eight-member girl group, "Lion Heart."

While Jessica's departure from Girls' Generation was a sudden and controversial one, many fans wondered if the girl group will still be able to dominate the charts. Recent reports from Gaon proved that SNSD continues to receive massive support from Sones, as the girls dominated the charts for 2015.

According to the aforementioned publication, Girls' Generation's singles "Catch Me If You Can" and "Party" dominate the bulk of their sales for the singles chart. In terms of group sales, their latest album "Lion Heart," including their past albums also dominate the Gaon group sales - CD chart.

Apink, Red Velvet, EXID and AOA ranked number 2 to number 5, respectively in the charts.

Meanwhile, AllKpop reported that the music video for Girls' Generation "I Got A Boy," which was released on Dec. 31, 2012, has already breached the 150 million-view mark. This makes it the second most viewed video in the history of SNSD, as "Gee" is ahead by only two million views.
