"The Big Bang Theory" will shift its focus from Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) to the other characters starting the second half of season 9.

During an interview with TV Guide, executive producer and series creator Steve Molaro said that much of season 9 has already been focused on Amy and Sheldon.

With this, the exec believes that it is now time for them to focus once again on the other characters including Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg), Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar), according to Design & Trend.

"I don't think it'll be a year. I think it's time to take a little bit of a step back. The entire season so far has been pretty Sheldon-Amy-centric following their breakup and reuniting. This gives us a chance to take a little breather. Obviously, they're in it and they matter, but it's a chance to let them be happy in the background and refocus on the other amazing characters on this show. I don't think they will change too much from this. It's not something that's going to be harped on to death. They're back together and it's doing well," he said.

Meanwhile, Molaro also revealed whether or not a "Star Trek"-inspired storyline will be part of an upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory."

"Not yet, but you know we are equal opportunity with 'Star Wars' and 'Star Trek' here. We are big fans of both franchises. We did do a pretty big 'Star Trek' episode last month with the Spock documentary and we had Leonard Nimoy's son on the show, so 'Star Trek' has been represented this season if we don't do anything later," he said.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 will return to CBS on Jan. 7, 2016.
