The hit Xbox 360 and Xbox One game by Square Enix, Rise of the Tomb Raider has been announced to be available for PC gamers this coming January 2016, according to Steam.

According to the report from Asia PC Mag, even if the announcement is not an official release date, it does align with prior announcement of Square Enix that the game will be available for PC in early 2016.

Earlier this month, Geek reported about a listing on Amazon saying that the game will be released for PC on January 29, 2016. The said listing has an box art that is for PC and also has list of compatible Windows.

Gamespot reported that there was some confusion last year about the availability of Rise of Tomb Raider game to other platforms besides Xbox. The confusion was due to the announcement during the Microsoft's Gamescom briefing in 2014 that labeled the game as a "2015 holiday exclusive" for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. But Xbox Head Phil Spencer clarified the confusion saying that the game is only time exclusive, which means that the game is also coming to other platforms after quite some time.

Microsoft may got the time exclusive rights for the game but it seems the sales of the game has not reached the expectation of the company. According to Tech Times the game only sold 330,000 during its first week. The game also did not make it in the Top 10 List of Best-Selling Games in November that was reported by International Business Times.

The surprising not so high sales and the inability to enter the top 10 list of November can be due to the fact that the Rise of Tomb Raider was released at the same time with Fallout 4. Most importantly the exclusive availability of the game for Xbox One and Xbox 360 during that time didn't help either.
