BlackBerry decided to officially join the popular Android scene in October 2015, which was when they rolled out their very first Android powered smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv. The handset was first released in the United States and exclusively on AT&T, but recent reports claim that it will soon be released for a much wider variety of users.

BlackBerry Priv smartphone has just passed the United States Federal Communications Commission, FCC listed.

The latest FCC register for the smartphone revealed that the new BlackBerry Priv is set to arrive to Verizon sometime in the near future. The Verizon variant of BlackBerry Android phone is set to have a short-term confidentiality release schedule of Jan. 20, 2016 suggesting that it might arrive very soon.

The BlackBerry Priv Android smartphone comes with remarkable specs. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chip paired with Adreno 418 GPU and a hexa-core CPU. It features a 5.4-inch wide AMOLED touchscreen display that has a capacitive curved edge.

It also sports an impressive Quad HD resolution. Furthermore, it features a sliding screen that shows an actual QWERTY keyboard, which is one of the marks of any BlackBerry handset. It also comes with RAM of 3GB and backed up by 32GB of built-in internal storage capacity. The device also supports an expansion for external microSD of approximately 200GB.

BlackBerry Priv boasts a camera that has 18MP Schneider-Kreuznach optics in the main rear and 2MP in the front with recording capacity of 720p HD. The handset runs on 3,140mAh battery and is equipped with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 operating system.

Ron Louks, BlackBerry Company's President of Devices and Gareth Hurn, Global Director of Device Portfolio Planning explained that the Priv Android phone is scheduled to receive an update to the newest Android version, the Android Marshmallow 6.0 sometime next year, Android Central reported.
