Nintendo fans are in for a treat this holiday season with a number of updates in line for its well-acclaimed shooting game franchise "Splatoon."

Nintendo World Report recently featured the new update which will bring a new weapon that gamers can utilize for an open fire. The Rapid Blaster Pro Deco, as it is more commonly known, ensures balanced performance of the game's long-ranging weapon as the fast fire extent and rate have been coupled with a somewhat lower power.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Deco utilizes Killer Wail as its special and Disruptors for the secondary. The gameplay was also revealed in several footages that were released.

After its initial launching in Wii U, the game was found to feature only a few stages. The following months, however, Nintendo rolled out supplementary levels, loads of weapons, additional clothing items, as well as latest game modes for "Splatoon," all of which are accessible for free downloads.

Furthermore, "Splatfest" is also revealed as a recurring event that enables additional fights and exciting items fighting against one another like Cats and Dogs, Autobots and Decepticons, and Pizzas and Burgers. However, these weekly add-on freebies may soon end since Nintendo is reportedly planning for a huge live upgrade, US Gamer reported.

Hisashi Nogami, "Splatoon's" producer along with Yusuke Amano, a co-director, recently discussed the up and coming downloadable content. Amano said that he favors gamers mastering the entire "Splatoon" elements instead of providing them with endless flow of contents. He explained, "I really think of it as content that extends the ways in which you can play Splatoon. [F]or example, getting used to a certain weapon - at that moment, they would get new weapons and maps, and have to go back to that idea of 'OK, how am I going to figure out how to use this weapon? How am I going to develop strategy for this map?'"

"Splatoon" upgrade is scheduled to roll out in January 2016.
