"Ashley Madison" has suffered one of the biggest data breaches in 2015, but this does not stop people from joining the hook-up site. It is said that there are now 43 million users using the service.
"Ashley Madison" suffered a major data breach in August when records of more than 30 million of its members were stolen. Since then, it has also been reported that there are now 43 million members using the infidelity website. This only means that even after the hacking incident, "Ashley Madison" has gained 4 million new users since the attack.
The 43 million total number of users is a rolling count on the website that is being displayed on its login-page. Avida Life, the parent company of "Ashley Madison" failed to comment on the said figure, CNNMoney reported.
According to the last statement of" Ashley Madison" right after the attack, their company has already upgraded their security features and members are continuously using their service. They said that 2.8 million worth of messages have been sent out by the company's female members and the community is very active even after the said attack.
"Despite having our business and customers attacked, we are growing, This past week alone, hundreds of thousands of new users signed up for the Ashley Madison platform-including 87,596 women," the August statement said.
"Ashley Madison" data breach revealed that customer's names, home address and credit card information were all stolen. Many of its members then filed several lawsuits, which could amount to several billion dollars.
The data breach also exposed several public officials as members of the hook-up site. The long list of familiar names included former Hartselle Mayor Don Hall, Family Research Council Executive Director and reality TV star Josh Duggar, Florida state prosecutor Jeff Ashton, and Louisiana Republican Party Executive Director Jason Doré, The Washington Post reported.
