Kara (Melissa Benoist) will have some challenges with a new villain coming and a new guy to stir up her love life when "Supergirl" returns after the winter break.

Christian Today reported that Benoist's real life husband Blake Jenner was cast to play the role of Adam Foster. Adam is the estranged son of Kara's boss Cat (Calista Flockhart). Adam was first referred to in episode 8 when Cat revealed to her that although she loves her son, she thinks that it is best that Adam is raised by his father. It was reported that in the midseason premiere of the show, Kara will finally meet him and it was said that he will be her new love interest.

It was reported that Adam will test Kara's relationship with Cat and as a new potential love interest; he will compete for Kara's attention. In the first part of the season, Kara is dealing with two men who have the potential to win her heart. There is Kara's crush, Jimmy (Mehcad Brooks) who seems to still be unsure if it is the right time to pursue Kara or not while he likes to keep his friendship with the heroine. Meanwhile there is also Winn (Jeremy Jordan) who is Kara's good friend and Team Supergirl's tech genius. In the first part of the season, Winn gave hints that he is attracted to her but knowing that Kara likes someone else, he is also unsure if he will pursue her.

On other news, TV Series Finale reported that a famous Superman villain will be coming to the show. It was reported that the comic book villain Non will appear in the midseason premiere. Non will be played by Chris Vance. Non is known to be the husband of Kara's evil aunt Astra (Laura Benanti) who is now being held captive in the DEO.

"Supergirl" Season 1 will return to CBS on Jan. 4.
