It seems as though the organizers behind the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival are determined to make their 2016 show the biggest one yet: Coachella plans to reunite the original members of Guns N' Roses, as well as James Murphy's LCD Soundsystem, for some spectacular performances next year.
Consequence of Sound first reported about the band's reunion in 2016: "Multiple sources have confirmed to Consequence of Sound that LCD Soundsystem are planning a comeback in 2016."
Reports further claimed that LCD Soundsytem is set to perform at "at least three high-profile music festivals" in the U.S. and the U.K. Rumors of an LCD Soundsystem 2016 reunion began surfacing last fall. However, DFA Records label manager Kris Peterson put a cork in those rumors in October.
"Hey idiots, LCD Soundsystem isn't reuniting," Peterson tweeted. "They're dead, along with your good looks and culture relevance."
Apart from Peterson's statement, DFA co-founder Jonathan Galkin also denied the rumors in an interview with Pitchfork back in October. LCD Soundsystem's upcoming set in Coachella's 2016 festival will be the band's first since their farewell concert in Madison Square Garden, New York City back in 2011.
Apparently, a lot of people have already been talking about a possible Guns N' Roses reunion, too, and they're finally seeing it come to life! The New York Times reports:
"The music world has been buzzing for months about a possible reunion for Guns N' Roses, after Slash, the band's original lead guitarist, suggested in interviews that he had finally reconciled with Axl Rose, its singer, ending a two-decade feud."
It is still unclear if guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler will join Slash and Axl Rose on the Coachella stage next year. The three musicians were part of the original Guns N' Roses lineup, who were also part of the band's 1987 debut album, "Appetite for Destruction."
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will be held on April 15-17 and April 22-24 at Indio, California.
