New York-based company Livestream opened its doors and entered the world of hardware technology by launching Movi Camera, a handy livestreaming device that also acts as a standalone camcorder .

Presently, Livestream kicked it up a notch this 2016 with its new Movi camera. According to The Verge, the new device is about 2.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Its lens occupying the majority of one side has a 150-degree field view accompanied with a battery that lasts for an hour.

The camera gives the user a 720p resolution, and records footage to a 16GB microSD memory card at a 20Mbps but rate and can stream at 10Mbps. Movi supports memory cards up to 32GB. With its 2.5 x 2 size, buyers can just slip it down their small handbag or simply put it into their pockets. PC Mag reported that the Movi has a built in microphone below it. It also includes accessories that let Movi be mounted on a microphone stand or a tripod for a steady location to record.

Instead of having a screen display like the GoPro, the video feed will be seen in a smartphone companion app. What's great about this new device plus its companion app is it gives the user the ability to manipulate over what portion of the video is being recorded or streamed. Some of the features involve are: manually select a crop, select multiple crops to quickly switch between them and pan or zoom across the frame.

Aside from manually choosing frames to livestream or record, Movi camera also has an autopilot feature that uses face and scene detection to automatically make cuts. Once it starts recording, the consumer can zoom in and out at different speeds. This can be achieved by how long one holds their finger on the screen. The same goes with panning.

CNET stated that, when panning, the purchaser can drag their finger from one subject to another and hold their finger down for how long they want the pan to take.

Know that Movi only lasts for an hour. For a longer shoot, the Movi Pro, an accessory handgrip, which includes a 10-hour internal battery, Ethernet for wired connectivity and a USB port for internet connection through 4G modem or tethered phone when Wi-Fi is not available.

The Movi is rated for IPX4 water resistance when used with the Movi Pro. This means the device is protected from splashes but not submersion. The latest device was optimized for iPhones, though it also works with iPads, but there is currently no Android support.

Livestream's Movi Camera will be available in April at a price of $399 with a pre-order price of $199.
