American mobile wireless carrier T-Mobile is gearing up to release the Blackberry Priv on January 26. The news comes after an internal launch has been leaked earlier this month and hinted that customers will be able to grab the latest innovative Android smartphone from Blackberry.
The leaked launch date gives credence to the previous speculations that the company will offer the aforesaid device early 2016. It can be recalled that the Blackberry has sold the Priv model via the company's website and third-party online retailers such as Amazon and Walmart, a report from iDigital Times said on Tuesday.
"BlackBerry did not allow pre-orders for CDMA networks at its Nov 6 launch. Customers with Sprint, Verizon or any carrier that uses a CDMA based system can not pre-order the phone. Blackberry is only shipping pre-orders for the phone for GSM based phone carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile. GSM networks require a SIM card, great for international travelers," the report said.
Phone Arena reports that the publication has received a tip from an anonymous tipster, in what can be described as the company's January 2016 calendar. On the calendar, the January 26 box was marked with the words: "Blackberry Venice Launch." The code name "Venice" is a reference name given to Blackberry Priv. It should be noted, however, that tipster has not shared any additional details as to the plans of T-Mobile about the rumored launch date of Blackberry Priv.
"T-Mobile hasn't been so open about whether it plans on offering the slider. Back in November, the carrier was said to be in talks with BlackBerry over the device. Since then, we've heard nothing. That is, until this tip just crossed our inbox. Other events mentioned on the calendar include the launch of a phone called the ZTE Avid Plus on January 20th, the same day that some price changes are apparently due to take place at T-Mobile," the report said.
