The NBA rumor mill continues to spin some interesting rumors as the trade deadline is within reach. According to the recent speculations, the Cleveland Cavaliers would be targeting Phoenix Suns Markief Morris in order to boost their campaign in winning the NBA title.
It was really clear last year that the Cavs was a team to beat. They were a great contender against the doubted Warriors. However, they were clearly outscored and outplayed by the Warriors up to the very end. And in the after math, some fans linked the defeat of the Cavs to the untimely injuries of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.
However, in their rematch game against the Warriors last Christmas day, it seems like the notion of injury was not really the concern for the Cavs, for despite having a complete squad, they were still defeated by a team who had no Steve Kerr with them. The game somehow magnified the lack of overall offense and defence on the Cavs line-up. LeBron James was not able to manage to carry the burden up to the very end of the game. A call for back-up is clearly needed by the Cavaliers.
That is why, it is now being speculated that the Cavaliers would be acquiring Markieff Morris in order to bolster their line-up. ESPN's Brian Windhors via movienewsguide emphasized that "he [Markieff Morris] may boost the Cavs' ability to effectively win against the Warriors next time they meet on the court."
The idea of having Morris in the Cavs is somehow feasible, especially after some reports surfaced stating that Morris is not having a good relationship with his current team and their coach. If indeed true, then Morris will surely be a game changer for the Cavs, and he may the key player that the Cavs and LeBron James could turn to when LBJ needs significant support.
