A couple of games in the Midwest heated up on Saturday night. It's too hot; three players were fined due to their outbursts.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Milwaukee Bucks guard O.J. Mayo has to pay $25,000 for "aggressively pursuing a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner." He received two technical fouls with just over four minutes before the first quarter ends on their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The referees hit Mayo with two quick technical fouls and ejected him after arguing about a no-call on a drive to the basket. It drove Mayo mad and rushed back to the court after official Eli Roe. Assistant coach Eric Hughes pulled him off before the Bucks' security and teammates Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo tried to cool him off.
Mayo eventually went to the locker room. He played only two minutes and 47 seconds without score.
"A player of ours gets his tooth knocked out, no call," Mayo said. "I felt like I got fouled. I definitely made a poor decision to get kicked out of the game on the road."
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers forward Paul George and Detroit Pistons forward Marcus Morris had an altercation during their game the same night.
As reported by Freep, the NBA announced Monday that Morris has to pay $15,000 for shoving George after the game where the Pacers won 94-82 against the Pistons. George was fined $10,000 for his involvement in the altercation.
It started when George nearly forced a turnover from Morris, who was then holding the ball letting the clock to run out. Morris shoved him away, and Pistons' point guard Reggie Jackson grabbed the loose ball as the clock run out. George then walked over and confronted Morris that erupted more pointing and yelling between the two teams.
The players from both teams said after that it was just a result of tempers flaring up in a hard-fought game and was nothing personal.
