Kristen Stewart has just been given the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role as Valentine in "Clouds of Sils Maria" by the National Society of Film Critics on Sunday. Other films such as "Spotlight" and "Carol" were also highly regarded by the NSFC, where they won two awards each.
According to Gossip Cop, Stewart had a lot of competition. Kristen beat out Alicia Vikander for "Ex Machina" and Kate Winslet for "Steve Jobs." On the other hand, Mark Rylance won best supporting actor for "Bridges of Spies," while Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his role in "Creed."
Apparently, the honor for Kristen wasn't simply with the award. Stewart said it was a big deal that her co-star was the one to present the honor to her. USA Today reports:
"One of the gala's most endearing moment came early in the night, when Julianne Moore gushingly presented her 'Still Alice' co-star Kristen Stewart with best supporting actress for French film 'Clouds of Sils Maria.'"
"It means a lot to receive this from you," Stewart said upon receiving the award. "I've received a lot of MTV Popcorns and stuff like that, but this is a little different."
Keeping her speech short and sweet, Stewart made sure to thank director Olivier Assayas and the film crew, before rushing off stage with a simple "bye."
The win is just the first of many for Stewart. The New York Film Critics Circle also voted Kristen as best supporting actress, also for her work in "Clouds of Sils Maria," opposite Juliette Binoche.
The 2015 New York Film Critics Circle Awards was held on Monday night, at TAO restaurant in Downtown New York, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Last February, Stewart won a Cesar Award - which is basically the French equivalent of an Oscar. Kristen was the first American actress to ever win a Cesar award.
Kristen Stewart net worth is $70 million.
