After it was reported that new villains will make their debut when "The Walking Dead" Season 6 returns, many now speculate a major character's demise.

Earlier this week, Xander Berkeley's character in the show has been confirmed. It was reported that he will be playing the comic book character Gregory. According to International Business Times, Gregory is another villain in the comic book who will cause more trouble in the lives of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his friends.

Gregory is the leader of Hilltop Colony and will become the new nightmare not just for Rick but also for Maggie (Lauren Cohan). The site reports that the character will join forces with the new villain Negan, to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and will betray Rick and will also attempt to poison Maggie. As of writing, there is still no confirmation as to when will Gregory debut in the show, but the producers have earlier revealed that they have a story prepared for the character, which could last until Season 7.

Speaking of the new big bad, Negan, Christian Post reports that showrunner Scott M. Gimple talked about the new character, teasing that although Negan is not as despicable as The Governor (David Morrissey), he is still a terrifying character. Gimple also added that Negan is "charismatic and funny and sort of friendly." However, Gimple revealed that Negan can be ruthless.

With the arrival of the new villains in the show, many comic book fans are now wondering if a major character will die in the season, particularly Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun). However, others speculate that the producers might not follow the comic book story and kill Maggie instead.

Fans will have to wait for answers when "The Walking Dead" Season 6 returns on Feb. 14 on AMC.
