The recent success of the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film has helped in bringing "Star Wars: Rouge One" into the top spot of the most anticipated films for 2016. Ready to go up against the massive superhero movies slated to hit cinemas this 2016, "Star Wars: Rouge One" managed to top polls and reviews despite the lack of an official trailer or teaser from the movie.

Vanity Fair reports that according to a new poll, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is already considered one of the most anticipated films for 2016. Despite not having character names, plot details and even a single teaser or trailer, the rebel alliance movie already poses a threat to the superhero movies that will hit cinemas this year.

Moviegoers are already excited on which among the three films including "Captain America: Civil War" and "Batman v Superman"  would top the charts this year. Backed with the effect of the latest "Star Wars" movie, "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story" is indeed a big threat to other films this 2016.

Although the movie is set to premiere in December 2016, it is still expected to become the top movie of the year even with just a few days left in the calendar.

"Batman v Superman" landed on the 3rd spot, while "Captain America: Civil War" hit the 5th spot in the most anticipated films for this year.

Collider, on the other hand, reveals a few details and speculations about the "Star Wars: Rouge One" movie. Although no characters were revealed, Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelson, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelson, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen were already named among the official cast of the film. A speculation that Jones will play the role of Boba Fett's daughter is creating hype among fans of the "Star Wars" franchise.

"Rouge One: A Star Wars Story" is slated to be released in December 2016.
