Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones will solve two major concerns of smartphone users, according to Evan Blass from VentureBeat. The South Korean tech giant is about to bring the waterproof model that can save a lot of energy with its extensive battery life.
In 2015, Samsung introduced the curved screen option in their Galaxy S line, simply called the "Edge." The iteration allowed the company to attract more consumers than they expected. This year, the company is hoping that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will give them further edge in the mobile tech market.
The new Samsung models' display features a similar design to the S6 generation. The S7 is believed to retain the previous model's 5.1-inch display, whereas the S7 Edge might have a 5.5-inch display. The upcoming Galaxy phones' Super AMOLED screens will supposedly remain at 1440 x 2560 quads HD.
This year, the new models might include an always-on-display (AOD) functionality that may consume merely a percentage of the battery every hour. The AOD feature will allow a screen to be glanced at and show the downloaded contents of the smartphone.
The batteries will remain to be non-replaceable, but the previous generation's 2550 mAh and 2600 mAh will be upgraded to 3000 mAh and 3600 mAh for the S7 and the S7 Edge. Wireless charging time is expected to range from 2 hours to 2.2 hours.
Samsung's waterproof feature was first introduced in their Galaxy S5 model but was dropped upon the creation of the S6. The upcoming devices were given an IP67 rating, meaning they will be totally protected from dust and against immersion between 15 centimeters to 1 meter. Yet, this does not mean that the new flagship phones can be used underwater.
There also is the possibility that the microSD cards can range up to 200 GB for extra storage to the device.
Samsung is expected to launch these handsets prior to the 2016 Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona around February.
