If you are fond of checking out architecture news online, you will definitely find the latest designs and innovations of architecture. That would include impressive buildings, towers, and other structures showcased in realistic renderings to give us ideas of how it really looks like in real life. Seeing these buildings will make us feel excited to finally see that structure open its doors. As 2016 begins, there will be some new buildings that will finally open featuring interesting and unique designs. The Curbed created a list of those buildings below:

1. Tate Modern Extension (Herzog & de Meuron: London, England). An expansion of a tower that will add 60 percent more gallery space to England's premier cultural institutions for media and installation art. The shape of the gallery mimics that of a brick chimney that stands in front of the museum.

2. VIA57 West, the 57th Street Tetrahedron (BIG: New York, New York). Danish architect Bjarke Ingels will be working on this project same as how he designed other projects that will still start construction like the Googleplex concept, WTC2 design, and Battersea Power station proposal. But what we will expect this year is a hyperbolic paraboloid residential pyramid in Manhattan's Midtown West which is a very experimental re-imagination of high-rise architecture. From the building, one can get incredible views from the hundreds of unit along the sloped exterior.

3. Ping An International Finance Center (Kohn Pedersen Fox: Shenzhen, China). When finished, this will be dubbed as the world's tallest office building with 115 stories. It is owned by a Chinese insurance giant that is joining the super tall buildings that are emerging as a trend in urban areas.

4. Louvre Abu Dhabi (Jean Nouvel: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates). Such an impressive design indeed for the Louvre's expansion into the Middle East featuring a white dome interlaced with a series of geometric openings. This design offers an artful way to control light and temperature. It mimics the features of a traditional palm leaf roof which provides a "rain of light" meant to reference "mashrabiya and the beams of light that illuminate souls." This will be considered as an important cultural addition to the area that is set to open in 2016, The National UAE reported.

5. Zlota 44 (Daniel Libeskind: Warsaw, Poland). A skyscraper that will surely add beauty to the Polish skyline which will be the tallest penthouse in continental Europe. After construction delays, it is expected to open this 2016.

6. Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (Renzo Piano: Athens, Greece). Despite the country's financial troubles, this project was continued for a complex theater and museum. It has an artificial hill and a park which is one way to revitalize the role of Athens as a cultural center.

7. National Museum of African American History and Culture (David Adjaye: Washington, D.C.). The site of this project has "taken nearly 200 years to get to this place." The structure is like a ziggurat that moves upwards manifesting praise.

8. 1SFMOMA Expansion (Snøhetta: San Francisco, California). A modern art museum that will be added with 235,000-square-foot expansion covered in polymer panels and is set like a granite pedestal against the glass and steel near the area. This is designed by Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta as a compliment to the original design of Mario Botta.
