Los Angeles is known to have tiny spaces for art galleries. That is why it came as no surprise that a stairwell in Los Feliz apartment has been turned into an art gallery for about four years already.
According to Los Angeles Times, an independent artist named Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer turned one of the stairwells in her Los Feliz apartment into an art gallery. The gallery is said to host shows of sculptures, sound recording, light installations, ceramics and paintings. Sarah calls her work of art as the "Finley Gallery."
The "Finley Gallery" is visible to the public through its panel windows that faced the street and sidewalk just right in front of the Los Feliz villas.
The area that Sarah turned into an art gallery is not really a beautiful place. It is the stairs between the laundry area and the garage parking. But residents who will pass through that area get to see more of the gallery.
Lehrer-Graiwer installed a cement step and a platform so that visitors can easily view the gallery. According to LA Curbed, Sarah even made a small artistic sign that will attract visitors to check out the gallery. Sarah even recommends that visitors see the place around dusk because the lights look more beautiful around that time.
As mentioned in the Finley Gallery official website, the gallery is lit from the inside. Given that then the best time to view it is "between dusk and dawn," says the website.
From an ordinary stairwell building Lehrer-Graiwer was able to convert the space into a gallery of amazing work of arts. The art may be more accessible to those who live in the building but with its effort, visitors can still appreciate what it got to offer. And for those people who are inclined to a unique artistic feature then "Finley Gallery" has that.
