There are a lot of people who are attracted to old houses and love to stay in one of these. Some even spend a lot of money just to remodel vintage homes and just add a few modern amenities.

This may sound weird since some tend to ask, "Why would they spend a lot of money just to renovate an old house? Why not buy a new one to settle in?"

There are eight truths that old house lovers wanted to share to those who are not a fan of owning these kinds of houses.

First, they are naturally antique lovers. Some of them grew up in a family who really loved old things and old houses. In an online forum of old house lovers, one of them said that because she grew up in a family who adored antiques, she somehow became influenced by it and considered these kinds of houses as her home although she needed to fix some "old house issues" like the electrical problems, so on.

Second, the old houses are built with strong foundation. The old way of building a house is noticeable and they have been proven to be strongly-built as seen from its survival up until this day. Most of the features as well as the pieces of furniture can still be upholstered and used for today's needs.

Third, it is a lot cheaper than building a new home. Spending more on the modern house from a newly bought lot has a lot more money to spend rather than an old house regardless if it's already a century old or built in the jazz or golden ages. "We had lot more problems with our contemporary homes and spent more money on them than we have with our old house," one forum member said.

Fourth, the contemporary homes for these old house lovers seemed to be empty, featureless, soulless, and not enduring. This is what they see in the modern houses either pre-made by some housing developers or from a hired contractor. Aside from the house design itself, the pieces of furniture are also made from real hardwood which are more stable and can survive in the next century.

Fifth, they like the mysterious feeling of an old house. Unlike the contemporary house, the way these vintage houses are designed, they are more unpredictable. Thus, it creates that curiosity among the visitors or guests upon entering the house.

Sixth, it is simply unique. This is the most common opinion among the old house lovers. They like the fact that these old houses are uniquely designed. Of course, they appear outstanding in the eyes of the people around since the way the exteriors are made are totally different from the ones made by the modern housing developers.

Seventh, they don't care about the market appeal as well as the "resale value" of the house. For them, this is just a ridiculous waste of their time and energy. They don't care about how the market sees the property. They just care about the property per se and how the condition of the house is.

Eighth, they appreciate the history of the house itself. The old house lovers are really curious on how the house was built as well as the stories behind its construction and its survival along the years. This can be clearly seen from the way the previous house owners arranged and chose the design and the arrangements inside the house.

In general, the old house lovers are really not in a rush when buying new house. They're also critical in these terms and already knew what considerations they need to think about before owning one of these vintage houses in the future. Yet, they aren't totally strangers to vintage homes unlike everybody else.
