David and Victoria Beckham had been renovating their £31.5million ($46m) mansion in an exclusive area of West London which they purchased back in September 2013, Mirror UK reported.
But residents near the area are not happy about it labeling them as "neighbors from hell" due to drilling and digging noise, mice that run around the neighborhood, dust blowing around due to the construction and even the huge number of fans that flock to the area.
"We are not aware of any complaints, the building work is done with complete sensitivity and respect of the neighbors on the street," The Beckhams spokesperson said according to Mail Online.
According to local residents the building work causes irritation to the neighbors and is considered as an "unpleasant experience" for them. They also claim that the Beckhams has taken over the street since they rented a seven-bedroom property opposite to the house being renovated.
Aside from that, they also bought the apartment behind their home and have rented another property for the builders. The situation in the house they are currently renting is similar to the one under construction because of the noise. There are Range Rovers and Audis in the house while the Land Rover Defender 4X4 of David sits on the driveway.
"I hear them every day, especially the drilling and hammering. They start at eight and finish at five, it's noise throughout the day, the mice and rats run this way, they're scared, when they hear the drilling, what do animals do? They go here, there, same with cats too," one house assistant said.
"I've caught more mice than I care to remember, they're running all over the place, I use these sticky pads, then throw them into a bucket and drown them. They come into the drains, sewerage, they come into the alleyway. We would be drowning six to eight a day in the morning. Now we got the experts in, they don't go inside, they put something around them to deter the mice," he added.
Rose Uniacke, the interior designer wife of the Harry Potter producer, David Heyman supervises the $7 plus million renovation of the home. The house will be comprised of seven bedrooms, wine cellar, cinema room, a home gym, powder room, and beauty area for hairdressing, manicures and make-up. There is even a separate room for Victoria's shoe collection.
To pacify the angry neighbors, the Beckhams sent out gift cards to them and also posed with them for pictures.
