"The Ellen Show" host Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia De Rossi recently played a trick on their fans after they announced that they will be welcoming a baby into their lives.

On her show, DeGeneres said that she and De Rossi will get a new puppy, and they have decided to name the mutt Kid. During the particular episode, the funnywoman told audiences, "It really makes me appreciate what it's like to be a mother. Because like I'm trying to hold a puppy while I'm trying to make coffee. And I can't do anything. He doesn't let me do anything."

Meanwhile, DeGeneres previously revealed in her 2011 book "Seriously...I'm Kidding" that she and De Rossi don't have any plans of having babies at all.

"We thought about it. We love to be around children after they've been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don't want children of our own," DeGeneres told Entertainment Tonight at that time.

This means that the couple's home will not be filled with the laughter and cries of their own children.

DeGeneres and De Rossi own a beautiful ranch in Santa Monica where they stay if they want to be away from the stresses of the city. The ranch is also where the couple ride their horses.

During an interview with Elle Décor, De Rossi revealed that she took it upon herself to learn more information about architecture and design because she saw how passionate DeGeneres was over the subject.

"I got a very thorough education in mid-20th-century French furniture within the first weeks of our dating. Ellen has moved more times than any person," she said.

The couple's ranch has a beautiful living room, an art barn, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a whole lot more.
