After the case of Realtor Beverly Carter has been closed, another similar threat has surfaced. Police from Tampa-area has warned the public and asked to be vigilant of a man wanted for targeting and sexually harassing female real estate agents.
Housing Wire reports that Tampa Area police are in a manhunt for a man that has been making sexual advances towards female real estate agents. The two female agents told police that a medium built, white male with a height of about 5 feet, 5 inches posed as a potential buyer and enticed them to show up alone.
One of the women said that the man rubbed his groin area against her hand as she was showing him a map. Another report tells of a man showing up with a Ryan home sales agent. He showered her with compliments as she showed him around and got too close to her. An agent in Ayersworth Glen stated that the man pulled her close and hit on her as he shook her hand. Similar real estate-related crimes have been reported in areas such as Nebraska, Omaha and other areas.
ABC Action News adds that citizens residing in the concerned areas are on high alert. Deputies want to apprehend the suspect before he gets the chance to do something terrible. The incident has occurred twice in the last couple of weeks according to deputies. The subject was seen in a surveillance video going inside an office wearing sunglasses and a grey hat. He drives a Toyota Prius with a possible license plate from Virginia.
More sightings of the man were reported in Wesley Chapel and New Tampa offices which could mean that he could be targeting other women in the bay area. The offices have made precautionary measures by placing a security guard inside the office while lanyards with panic buttons will be given to realtors. The intent of the victims to have his picture out in public was agreed upon but was strictly warned not to speak on camera for their safety.
Other real estate companies hopefully will make other precautionary measures to stop the suspect from doing something worse.
What do you think about the action being taken by real estate companies and agents?
