The Los Angeles home of Charlton Heston, a legendary Hollywood actor, has finally been sold to a new owner for $12.2 million.
Heston's Beverly Hills property was sold at $12,212,000 with the help of Nourmand & Associates agents, Myra Nourmand and Howard Stevens, reported LA Times. The unnamed buyer was represented by Brett Lawyer from Hilton & Hyland.
The Academy Award winner has lived in the home with his family for almost five decades. While filming "Ben-Hur," the movie that won him the Best Actor trophy, Heston commissioned the Beverly Hills estate, reported Mail Online. When the film wrapped up its production, the Hollywood actor moved into the property with his wife and kids.
In November 2015, the LA Mansion was listed for $12.25 million. Putting it on the market, Nourmand said it is a "once in a lifetime chance to own a piece of Hollywood history." Many of Charlton Heston's memorabilia from his movies still remain in the house. On the other hand, these mementos are not for sale.
Heston, who died in 2008, left the home to his wife and children. At the time of the listing, Fraser, the "Ten Commandments" actor's son, revealed it was difficult to let go of the home. However, Lydia, the legendary actor's wife, no longer lives there and so everyone decided to sell the estate.
Most of the property has remained mostly the same since 1959. The gated three-acre estate boasts a view of the mountain in almost all corners of the home, which has floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Not only that, the new owner will enjoy the four-bedroom, seven-bathroom property.
It also has a staff quarters and an impressive two-story library found in the master's suite. This home on top of the Coldwater Canyon also has a swimming pool, tennis courts with pavilion, meditation area and an a two-story viewing deck.
The Beverly Hills mansion has a driveway which could park up to 10 cars.
