Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian are beyond thrilled about being in the cover of Architectural Digest, out in stands now. This is the first time for the famous sisters to be featured in the design magazine, and they shared some of the photos on their Instagram accounts.
"To say we are honored to be on the cover of [Architectural Digest] is an understatement. I still can't believe it!" Khloe gushed.
Kourtney owns a massive 11,500-square-foot Tuscan mansion in Calabasas, near her mother's property. Her sister Khloe also lives nearby in her own 10,000-square-foot Mediterranean mansion. The sisters enlisted the help of celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard to realize their own aesthetic tastes.
Kourtney describes her taste as "restrained" and "modern." Bullard turned Kourtney's abode into a sophisticated yet warm space, with its cream walls, wooden ceiling and black-and-white details. Bright colors pop up as accents, reflective of her kids' personalities.
"I am very afraid of color, but when you have kids, you can't be so stringent. Martyn was able to introduce bright pops in a way I can handle," the mother of three said.
"We wanted to make it sophisticated but family-friendly," Bullard added.
Kourtney's living home brims with a well-curated set of modernist art pieces, including the Pierre Jeanneret chairs in the dining room and an Oscar Niemeyer chair in the living room. A Jules Leleu desk serves as the focal point of her office.
Meanwhile, Khloe's style is more glamorous, and she's fond of oversized, plush pieces. Her living room, where their magazine cover was shot, is described as an "ethereal fantasy" with its cream-colored carpet, white drapes, and a huge Levantine mirror.
Khloe's kitchen, which is often shown in her app's videos, is kept pristine in black and white, with state-of-the-art appliances. The younger Kardashian is known to be an avid cook, and her perfectly-stacked cookie jars have been famous among her fans.
Another favorite part of the house is the vine-covered terrace. Huge black and white daybeds give it a contemporary laid-back appeal.
"Khloé wasn't interested in a traditional take on Moroccan style, so we cleaned up the lines and gave it a more vibrant, contemporary feel," Bullard said.
Aside from their hit reality series, multiple fashion and beauty lines and a thriving boutique, it is apparent that Khloe and Kourtney also share a great love for interior design which they inherited from their mom, matriach Kris Jenner.
"My mom has always had a vision for our houses - she taught us the joy of interior design," Kourtney said. "And I have vivid memories of my dad's closet, which was always immaculate. My sisters and I are perfectionists because we were brought up that way."
