More and more apartment developments in Brisbane are getting inspiration from hotels in terms of design.
According to Domain, many apartment developers in Brisbane are shifting to the hotel-style residential units. That is because the oversupply of apartments in the city is pushing developers to create distinction in the competitive market. Jeff Brown of Rothelowman Architects said that Brisbane is adapting to the demands of the evolving apartment market.
Brown said, "We are seeing a growing trend of this type of higher-end hotel-style apartments, which Brisbane has started embracing. There is a kind of renaissance going on as an influx of competition enters the market, meaning there is more push for quality. He added, "It comes down to a point of difference, which drives our designs."
According to the real estate website, the hotel-style apartments are already popular in other capital cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. Brown said Melbourne has just started to embrace this style in architecture. But he said that the hotel-style apartments are more suitable in Brisbane because of its environment and climate.
In the meantime, residential manager Michael Hurley of Aria Development Group confirms the positive response of the market to the hotel-style residences. He said that their St Julien Residences in South Brisbane is sold out in one week before they had the chance to launch the new development to the general market. Hurley said, "All our purchasers have seen what we have delivered in the past, and knew that St Julien had the following features that were going to be first class; location, architecture, finishes, amenities and common areas."
Domain suggests that the changing lifestyle of the people in Brisbane and the saturated apartment market is driving the city to adapt to this new style in residential properties. The Mary Lane, which is a mix of luxury hotel and residential apartments, is ready to begin construction sometime this year in Brisbane.
